Our story
Solar and battery portfolios are often spread across different manufacturer portals, data formats and service relationships. Diagno was built to give the people responsible for those assets a clearer operating picture.
The necessity of Diagno became clear out of the founders’ experience working with Global Sustainable Energy Solutions, an Australian renewable energy training and consultancy firm. System owners and maintainers were paying either for contractor visits to confirm performance or a huge amount for proprietary meters to standardise their energy fleet reporting. Every modern energy asset comes with some form of data monitoring. What if a platform could centralise and standardise it all? Out of this question, Diagno was officially founded in March 2023.
Our goal is to solve the problem. All of your energy assets in one place. We do the work to align your data so that not only can we produce the metrics you need across your whole portfolio, but you can get it all yourself without exporting out of five different platforms.
From the first systems brought onto the platform to now, our academic and corporate partnerships have brought all kinds of expertise to the development of the algorithms that continue to make assets safer and improve energy performance.

Meet the team
Chief Executive Officer
Chris Martell is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Diagno. A mechanical engineer with a Master of Science in Photovoltaic Engineering from UNSW, Chris has worked in solar PV since 2010 across system design, engineering, consultancy and industry training. His background includes engineering leadership at GSES and the 2013 Clean Energy Council award for best system design over 100 kW. He brings that practical industry experience to Diagno’s approach to renewable asset diagnostics.
Chief Operating Officer
Earl Duran is co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Diagno. He holds a PhD in quantitative climate science from UNSW, where his research used large climate datasets to investigate changes in ocean circulation around Australia. Before Diagno, Earl worked in renewable-energy consulting and project engineering at GSES. He brings that quantitative and operational experience to the development and delivery of Diagno’s renewable asset diagnostics platform.
Chief Technology Officer
Clement Meers is Chief Technology Officer at Diagno and holds a Bachelor of Renewable Energy Engineering (Honours) from UNSW. His honours thesis focused on improving open-source photovoltaic modelling. At Diagno, Clement leads the development of data and diagnostic capabilities that turn monitoring information from distributed solar and battery assets into practical operational insight. He also contributes to the RACE for 2030 Maximising Solar ROI research project alongside UNSW, UTS and industry partners.
THE WIDER TEAM
Diagno’s Sydney-based team brings together renewable energy engineering, software development, data science and practical solar-industry experience. Many team members have completed undergraduate or postgraduate engineering study through UNSW’s School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE). That technical foundation, combined with experience in system design, research, consulting and renewable asset operations, helps us turn complex monitoring data into useful information for the people responsible for solar and battery portfolios.

Where is Diagno based?
Diagno is based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Our address is Suite 301, 191 Botany Road, Waterloo.
What does Diagno do?
Diagno is a solar monitoring and diagnostics platform. It brings available data from supported monitoring sources into a shared portfolio view, analyses performance and helps teams organise investigation, follow-up and reporting.
Who does Diagno work with?
We work with organisations and service providers responsible for renewable energy assets, including commercial asset owners, councils, PPA providers, installers, EPCs and O&M contractors.
Does Diagno replace an installer or on-site technician?
No. Diagno provides remote monitoring information and investigative context. Qualified people are still required for electrical work, physical inspection and on-site rectification.
