Council solar can be spread across libraries, depots, administration buildings, community facilities and other sites – often with different installation years, contractors and monitoring portals. Diagno provides a common performance workflow across it all.

Start with a defined portfolio and agree what success looks like for facilities, sustainability, procurement and service teams.

Map the site list, monitoring brands, current portal ownership, contractors and the reports or decisions the council needs to support.
STEP 02
Provide secure, read-only access via our wide range of supported pathways. We’ll let you know the capabilities of what you’ve brought on the platform.
STEP 03
Build a portfolio baseline, examine emerging or historical patterns and agree how findings should be triaged.
STEP 04
Send qualified contractors when necessary, then retain comments and outcomes on-platform for future reporting and accountability.
Public-sector proof
Diagno partnered with Waverley, Woollahra and Randwick Councils to create a Solar Health Check pilot program for eligible residents and small businesses.
For those eligible, we brought their system on to the platform and monitored it for a month. Afterwards a report was delivered that indicated system performance, any issues and next steps.
The result of the pilot was that for systems identified as eligible, Diagno’s intervention was able to improve outcomes for roughly 30%. This includes restoring generation to systems that weren’t generating, and restoring communications for systems that had lost it.

Research collaboration
Diagno is an industry participant in the RACE for 2030 “Maximising solar ROI” project, led by solar research leaders University of New South Wales and co-led by the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures. We worked with our research partners to develop industry-leading algorithms and analysis techniques that are actively being brought onto the platform.
UNSW has been at the forefront of photovoltaic research for decades. Working with SPREE (School of Photovoltaics and Renewable Energy Engineering) gives Diagno the opportunity to apply world-leading research to continually improve our diagnostic algorithms and analysis techniques.
Working with the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures gives Diagno the opportunity to help translate cutting-edge research into practical diagnostic tools for commercial solar systems, improving fault detection, maintenance decisions and operational performance.

Council questions
Can Diagno monitor every solar system across council facilities?
It’s likely. We currently support upwards of 18 distinct data sources, including metering providers and direct inverter/battery monitoring. The common exceptions are decades-old systems and defunct brands. Regardless, we’re happy to work with you to get all your systems online.
Does Diagno need control access to council equipment?
No. Diagno exerts no control over any devices we monitor, without exception, and we ask for the minimum possible permissions necessary to offer system oversight.
Can contractors have access without seeing the whole portfolio?
Yes. Users can be added to exactly the sites and systems that they need to see, without concern that they’ll receive issue notifications or data that they’re not meant to see.
How quickly will a new issue be identified?
It depends. If we become aware of a safety risk, we’ll let you know as soon as we’re sure. For major performance issues we typically notify after a day, with communications issues after a few days as these often resolve on their own. If you have specific requirements, talk to us and we’ll be able to sort something out.
